A Jail acts like a rehab centre for all the prisoners and ethically it must be fulfilled with all the resources necessary for security purpose.125 CCTV cameras are found damaged in Tihar Jail. Most of them are specifically reported to be in Jail number 3 where the terrorist Afzal Guru was kept after the 2001 Parliament attack. The jail still has many dangerous prisoners. A few days ago officials and the prisoners had a huge dispute due to which emergency alarms were used to handle the whole matter. Tihar Jail is located at Janakpuri which is one of the places near Delhi-NCR.
Due to the faulty CCTV cameras the prisoners are not monitored properly inside the jail.Sources said that according to a recent report, there are around 450 CCTV cameras in the Jail out of which more than 125 cameras are not working properly and more than 30 cameras are faulty in jail number 3.
Some cameras in working condition also capture blur footage. Sources said that this is the only reason “why there was no footage found whenever there was a blunder at the Tihar Jail.
