NEW DELHI: A five-year-old boy, named Vihaan Gupta was kidnapped from his school bus a day before Republic Day in Delhi. The child has now been rescued by the Delhi Police.
According to the police, the 3 men who tried to kidnap the child had allegedly made three failed attempts to kidnap him in the week preceding to Republic day and he was finally abducted in the morning of January 25.
On first attempt, it was alertness of a nearby temple flower seller who dialed the police when he noticed that the kidnappers’ motorcycle number plate was twisted and defaced.
On another attempt, the kidnappers failed to catch Vihaan on time. The presence of a large crowd near the spot where they planned to intercept Vihaan’s school bus forced them to drop the plan on the third attempt, said the police.
The spot where the crime was committed, was the last stop for the school bus and the child was generally picked up from there after the school. It was parent’s motorcycle tire that got punctured and gave the kidnappers enough time to commit the crime.
The crime branch said, “the three kidnappers were all residents of the same neighborhood in Gokalpuri and used to a have lifestyle that was beyond their means. Their financial needs made them join hands for the kidnapping. It was their immediate decided plan to kidnap the child for ransom as they heard of a Rs 57 lakh deal that the child’s father had recently made.”
