Delhi: Four members of a family, including two children, have been killed and three others were found injured after their house caught fire in Kohat Enclave near Pitampura region. This horrific incident occurred during the wee hours on Friday, April 13. The family died due to suffocation caused by the fire as they could not find an escape route.
The police confirmed, four family members, including two children were sleeping on the first floor. It was after they saw the fire smoke coming up from stilt parking, they tried to escape but were suffocated to death. The fire broke out in a four-storey-ed building. At the time of the accident, a total of 23 people were present in the building. Five vehicles parked in the basement were damaged due to the fire.
A fire department official said, 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot after a call was received at 2.15 am about a fire in the parking area. By around 4 am, the fire was doused off. It has been learnt that fire broke out allegedly due to short circuit in the electricity meter.
Even when the neighbors informed the emergency services on time, they are claiming that the fire department officials arrived late. Further investigation underway.
