As usually long queues were seen at the time of admissions at the University of Delhi but, now more than 5,000 students have withdrawn their admissions from DU . The matter has created a problem for the university to refund the fees of students as the amount lies in the millions but, the bank account information has not been provided by many students. As, there is a possibility that students paid their fees online at cyber cafe DU has generated a list having names of students who cancelled their admission. A list of students who submitted their fees twice or thrice has also been created. The university agrees to refund the registration fees of all the students stepping back, but, the only question is that in which account the amount should be given back ?
The same problem occurred last year when DU wasn’t able to refund the fees of students due to lack of the bank account information. A senior officer from DU said that there are students who have paid their fees through cyber cafe using someone else’s account. Therefore, if we refund the amount to the same account it will be deposited in the account of the shopkeeper at cyber cafe but there is no assurance of money reaching at the right person. He added to his statement that this year we asked for the bank account information which can be used to refund the fees in case of admission withdrawal. For the very first time in the history of Delhi University it is going to happen that DU is returning back the fees which students have paid twice or thrice by the students mistakenly such amount is in lakhs.
