A 23-year-old man was killed by his 17-year-old cousin accidentally as he fired from a loaded pistol while posing for photographs in southeast Delhi’s Shahdara area.
The incident took place when the minor cousin was posing with the licensed gun while the victim was trying to take his photograph. The minor allegedly pulled the trigger accidentally, said the police.
- They further added, “The deceased who was identified as Prashant Chauhan, had gone to his uncle’s house in Sarita Vihar. Chauhan’s cousin, a minor, who is said to be a student of Class 11, managed to procure his father’s pistol from his locker when it forgot to lock it and the two decided to click photographs posing as gunmen.”
- Prashant advised his minor cousin to stand like a fictional spy with a gun pointed towards the gun. He asked the accused to pose like he was pointing the pistol at him for a better angle. Hearing the gunshot, the mother and sister of the accused, ran to check what happened into another room.
The sources say that the teenaged shooter will be given proper counselling and will be sent to a juvenile home. The police have detained his father who is the owner of the firearm.
The police came to know of the incident when the youth was taken to nearby Apollo Hospital around 9.30pm, where he died soon after.
