The ancient Hindu Hanuman temple of Connaught Place is one of the oldest Hanuman temple in India. It is claimed to be one of the five temples of Mahabharata days in Delhi. According to the Hindu beliefs, this Hanuman Mandir was built by Pandavas with four other temples as well and is also known as Prachin Hanuman Mandir.
The Hanuman deity in this temple is unique because the idol is faced towards south and represents the Lord in a very young age, that of a Balak (young child) or Bala Hanuman. The Bala Hanuman rests his right hand over his chest and carries the Gadha in his left hand. Temple height is reported to be 108 feet. The Hindu Hanuman temple of Connaught Place holds a World Record in the Guinness Book of World Record with the continuous 24-hour chanting of the mantra “Sri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram” on August 1, 1964.
After its construction, the Lord Hanuman temple in New Delhi has undergone various restorations tie and again. The entire complex of Hanuman Mandir Connaught Place had been redone and developed by the New Delhi Municipal Council with great care and serves as hub for the religious activity.

In addition to being regarded as a holy place, this temple is also known for its mehendi artists and their variety of intricate henna application outside the temple. Other side of temple is lined with lots of bangles shops having enormous range of bangles in variety of colours. Lord Hanuman temple of CP, Delhi has a special significance for every Tuesday by thousands of faithful. So, you can find this temple a bit crowded on Tuesdays. Being one of the most visited temples of New Delhi, thousands of visitors came here daily to worship Lord Hanuman.
