Handicapped Pension Scheme is launched by Central Government and is implemented in all Indian states. Especially launched for people with disabilities like blindness, deafness or orthopedic disability, the scheme aims to encourage and support disabled persons so that they can live a common life. This pension scheme was introduced in the month of February 2009 by the central government of Delhi. It offers financial support to people with physical and psychic disabilities.
- Eligibility criteria of pension scheme for disabled persons

- The applicant shall be aged not be more than 60 years. Age limit for the entry of applicants is 0 to 60 years.
- The applicant’s disability level should not be less than 40%. The Medical Board of Govt. Hospital should issue the disability certificate.
- Family income should not be more than Rs. 75,000/- p.a. from all sources.
- The disabled person should be a resident of NCT Delhi for at least 5 years preceding the date of submission of application.
- The applicant should have ‘single-operated’ account in any Bank or Post Office for receiving the payment through electronic clearing system.
- Benefits of the Disabled Persons Pension Scheme
Handicapped Pension Scheme will ensure that physically or mentally unsound persons will have a financial support every month from the Central and State government.
- Documents Required
- Proof of residence which clearly show at least 5 years of residence in Delhi
- Certificate validating the handicap/disability issued by the Medical Board of notified Hospitals of Govt. of NCT of Delhi or Govt. of India is mandatory
- A self-declaration by the applicant regarding his/ her family income as given in the form.
- The form needs to be recommended by a Central /State Govt. Gazette Officer or MP/MLA.
