NEW DELHI: On Sunday The Aam Aadmi Party announced that they would support all the farmers who have called up for a nationwide agitation demanding a raised minimum support price and loan waiver.
The farmers will cut off the vegetables and milk supply to cities for 10 days from June 1. “The farmers had sought AAP’s support for the 10-day agitation. The party has issued an appeal to its volunteers to stand with the farmers and back their demands,” said Ashish Khetan the national spokesperson of AAP.
He further added: “The party is supporting the agitation across the country but, in Rajasthan, volunteers will be mobilized to support farmers and to work at the ground level with them.”
Party volunteers and leaders from Rajasthan who highlighted the problems of farmers, were the people who attended the press meet. Elections to the Rajasthan assembly are supposed to be taken up later this year. AAP recently appointed national treasurer Deepak Bajpai as in charge of the Rajasthan party unit, who has replaced party leader Kumar Vishwas, who has been at loggerheads.
Khetan said: “Farmers, particularly those in Rajasthan, are faced with a massive loan burden and many of them have been forced to commit suicide.” He claimed that BJP had reneged on pre-poll its promises, leaving farmers disappointed.
