Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken along with the Police Commissioner Amulya Patnayak met the family members of Vinod Mehra, on Wednesday. Vinod Mehra, a 43-year-old businessman and a Congress Seva dal worker, was shot dead in a suspected road rage incident on the Bhalaswa flyover near GT Karnal Road on Tuesday, while he was driving back to his home in his WagonR from a wedding function. On 6th February when Mehra was coming back from the function, suddenly a van overtook him.
He was with his 16-year-old nephew Kunal. The boy told police that when they were returning, an Eeco overtook their vehicle, and Mehra rolled down his window and yelled at the driver. Then they got indulged in a quarrel, after which occupants of both vehicles stepped out. The men allegedly assaulted Mehra before shooting him in the chest. The bullet pierced the left side ofMehra’s chest, just below the heart.

Maken said it was indeed very saddening that Mehra was murdered in front of the young boy. Moreover, Maken demanded not to reveal the identity of the young boy, and as he is the only witness to the crime Ajay Maken made sure that the boy is provided with police protection.
Patnaik ensured that the young boy would not be called to the police station as the boy is under the fear as his uncle was shot dead in front of him. Maken said that the Police Commissioner has promised prompt action in the murder case, and the culprits would soon be arrested.
Maken said that Congress party didn’t want to create any political issue about this incident and expected the police to make an impartial inquiry.
