Unfortunately, he is not the only child, many children of the same age group have got addicted of consuming such drugs and become a victim of substance abuse.
A senior official of the Education Department said, “We admit that the problem exists. Only after acceptance, we can work towards a solution”.
In the primary schools run by three municipal corporations in Delhi, about 1 thousand students from the age group of 7-10 years have been exposed to drugs like inhaler, solutions, spirit, tobacco and gutka during an ongoing screening process which was being directed and monitored by Juvenile Justice Committee.
The municipal corporations of Delhi are now training 1400 teachers in alliance with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Institute of Human Behavior and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) to identify such children. More attention is to be given on the sensitive zones of Delhi.
