People of Delhi are suffering from the last one month with serious breathing problems due to the presence of toxic air. As per the Delhi Pollution Control Committee reports, the major pollutant PM2.5 or particles with diameters less than 2.5 mm, ranged between 317 to 492 micrograms per cubic meter at different locations between 10 am and 11:30 am.
According to the national standards the permissible range for PM2.5 is 60 and 25 by the international standards. The worst PM2.5 situation was at Anand Vihar in east Delhi, highest at 410 and 492 between 10 am and 11:30 am.
PM2.5 rising up at 339 on10 am at Mandir Marg in central Delhi, while, it was at 372 in Punjabi Bagh in west Delhi and on 11:30 am at RK Puram in south Delhithe the level was ranged between 224 and 317 from 9 am.
From 1 pm onwards the air quality improves slightly, but the PM2.5 levels was still four to seven times over the safe limit, ranging between 123 and 184 at the 17 locations over the Delhi.
As per the weather reports, the main reason behind the contaminated air quality in Delhi could be due to sudden change in wind directions, as the northwesterly winds from neighboring Punjab and Haryana started entering Delhi again.
Mahesh Palawat, director of private weather analyst Skymet concluded that “The speed of the winds is about 10 kmph. However, this time, northwesterly winds will be short spanned,”
