This university is formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering, is a government university. If we talk about address, it is located in Shahbad Daulatpur, Main Bawana Road, Delhi, 110042 New Delhi, India.
DTU is one of the oldest Engineering Colleges of India. Also, first Engineering College of Delhi, established in 1940.
DCE, was actually established as ‘Delhi Polytechnic’ and later came into existence in the year 1941. They aim to cater the needs of Indian industries for trained technical manpower with practical experience and sound theoretical knowledge.The institution was set up at historic Kashmiri Gate campus as a follow up of the Wood and Abott Committee of 1938. offering wide ranging programs in engineering, technology, arts and sculpture, architecture, pharmacy and commerce.The national diploma awarded by the institution was recognized as equivalent to degree level for the purposes of employment.In 1952, It is affiliated with University of Delhi and started formal Degree level Programmes.
The department of Architecture later was named as the School of Planning and Architecture, and now this college has become a Deemed University and Institution of National importance.It is said to be the mother of IIT Delhi. Aesthetically the college campus is matchless with any other college in Delhi.
Since its inception and foundation, It has constantly lead the way in reform movements, and in the latter era of the Republic of India. It played pivotal roles in the reconstruction, modernization, and administration of the society.
Moreover, infrastructure wise all the facilities are available for all streams of engineering. Most of the college of engineering faculty members are pioneers in their fields.
