Now, you must check the weight of your luggage before travelling in the Delhi metro. If you are a Delhi metro commuter and your bag is oversized I.e. 15 Kg or above, then you will be barred from getting metro ride from March onwards at 20 selected stations.
Recently U-shaped metal barriers are installed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in front of X-ray baggage screening machines. These barriers don’t allow oversized baggage to enter the machine.
These barriers are currently effective at 5 metro stations, which are Barakhamba Road, Anand Vihar, Chandni Chowk, Kashmere Gate and Shahdara. The other 15 metro stations where these barriers will be installed by the end of February or by March are Adarsh Nagar, Azadpur, Badarpur, Botanical Garden, Chawri Bazar, Dilshad Garden, Govindpuri, HUDA City Centre, Inderlok, Karol Bagh, Lal Quila, Nangloi, R K Ashram Marg, Rithala and New Delhi.
The commuters can’t carry baggage that are heavier than 15kg and have dimensions of 60 cm in length, 45 cm in width and a height of 25 cm. These rules were placed from the beginning but it is now that these rules are taken into action. DMRC is taking strict measures so that commuters follow to these.
