The first Ethiopian center in Delhi, India was inaugurated by the Ethiopian Embassy on March 19th, 2013 in the embassy compound by Auto Tadesse Haile the state minister of industry, along with H.E Gennet zewide, and other Ethiopian ambassadors, diplomats and members of the Ethiopian community in India.
According to Ato Tadesse, this Ethiopian center in Delhi is the illustration of the historic people, the relations between Ethiopia and India and he further conveyed his standpoint that this cultural center would consequentially be the medium for a more productive exchange of culture and education and would accord to a strengthened economic and political relations. Gennet one of the Ambassador expressed his belief that the Ethiopian cultural center in Delhi would introduce the traditions and cultures of Ethiopia to the people of India and would also promote the same amongst Indian and another tourist from other cultures as well. The Center includes a permanent display of Ethiopian traditional artifacts and paintings, Conference Hall, Meeting Hall, a restaurant and, a coffee house. There is a weekly cultural dance performance among other scheduled programs that take place. The aim is also to provide a common gathering venue for African Ambassadors H.E.Gennet said. The Centre is considered as the living symbol of African culture and heritage in New Delhi and in India.
