MCD workers are going on strike again. They had already announced the strike to start on 11th October onwards as their demands are not getting fulfilled by the Delhi Government. The season of shopping in Delhi is at peak people will suffer once again from the pits of garbage which are on the road. Places near Delhi will become breading place for mosquitoes as there will be no proper disposal of garbage.
According to Sanjay Gahlot, president of MCD Cleanliness Employees Union salary, outstanding arrears, DA, bonuses, tuition fees, medical cashless facility, medical payments, are their major demands. Due to lack of these facilities they will be protesting at East MCD Headquarters Patparganj on 11th October.
Diwali festival is on 19th October and people are cleaning their houses these days, due to which the much more amount of waste is getting emitted by houses. In this situation, the streets of Delhi will be full of garbage pits everywhere.
It is not the first time when the MCD’s cleaning staff is going to do a strike. Earlier, the MCD cleaning staff had already gone on strike on various demands. Earlier this year, the cleaning workers of East Delhi had gone on strike. On the fifth day of the strike, a fund of Rs 119 crore was released by the Delhi government, after which the strike was over. Approximately 16,000 cleaners are likely to go on strike this time.
