Traveling in Delhi Metro from 1st October is going to be more expensive as the fares at DMRC are going to increase up to 20-33.33%. After the fares got increased earlier, the number of passengers travelling on the Delhi Metro has decreased. Such news could be categorized as one of the breathtaking events in Delhi for common people.
The fares at DMRC were also increased on 10th May. They fixed the rates to be in six slabs earlier. Currently, the minimum fare is Rs.10 and maximum is Rs.50. From October 1, the maximum fares will increase from Rs.50 to Rs.60. Travelling over 32 kilometers in the metro now you will have to pay a maximum fare of 60 rupees. Apart from this, the minimum fare will be 15 rupees for 2 to 5 kilometers. The maximum fare will be 20 rupees for 5 kilometers. Similarly, the passengers who had to pay the rent of 20, 30 and 40 till now would be paying additional 10 rupees due to this increment in the second phase.
A lot of office going people prefers to travel via metro. A survey conducted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has revealed that people who have a monthly pay of 10-30 thousand rupees per month travel more in the metro. The fare increment in the second phase would increase the burden of expenses on every single passenger’s pocket.
