NEW DELHI: A 14-year-old girl, who had jumped off the third floor of a government school in Mahendra Park, died on Wednesday. Though the exact reason for why she had jumped off is still not known. During the investigation, Police have recovered a personal diary from her school bag in which she used to write about everything that she was undergoing and police could conclude that she was depressed for some time due to her studies. Inquiry is going on to see she was harassed by any teacher.
On Wednesday the girl’s body was handed over to her family so they could cremate her mortal remains. The cremation had been done at Nigam Bodh ghat and was attended by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal as well.
sources revealed that she was in Class IX and was under pressure as even after sheer hard work she failed to score enough. Although there are speculations about her being harassed by teacher. The personal diary that had been recovered is sent for forensic analysis.
Additional DCP, A K Lall has confirmed the death, but as of now, he has refused to disclose any detail about the reason behind the suicide.
However, the girl had not been attending school for few days. On Friday, she climbed to third-floor staircase & jumped to death.
None of the CCTV cameras installed at the school were functional. The girl’s father is an owner of a small business and the family stays at Gujrati colony near the school. Her family has staged a protest demanding action against the lack of CCTVs at the school. An investigation under section 174 CRPC has been initiated.
