Being one of the one of the most prominent Sikh gurdwara for worship in Delhi, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, Connaught Place is also known for its association with 8th Sikh Guru. It was named after the 8th Sikh Guru, Guru Harkishan Sahib, as a tribute. The well-known pool inside the Gurdwara complex is known as the ‘Sarovar’.
The Gurdwara is ranked No 1 in the list of best tourist and pilgrimage spot in the whole Delhi. People from various religions, castes and places visit this holy place. Interestingly, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, Connaught Place has one hospital, one museum, and one art gallery, functioning in its basement.

This gurdwara was the residence of Raja Jai Singh of Amber (Jaipur) and was locally known as ‘Jaisinghpura Palace’. It was years later that his bungalow-sized residence was converted into a gurdwara. The 8th Guru Sri Harkishan had been here as a guest of Raja Jai Singh.
A tip while entering Gurdwara Bangla Sahib for any visitor is to keep their head covered with any scarf, dupatta, or handkerchief when present inside the complex. Also, Shoes are forbidden on the gurdwara campus and do maintain silence when you are venturing inside.
This gurdwara even has an Art Gallery which is named after the Sikh General Sardar Bhagel Singh and is present in the basement which is worth seeing. The gallery of the Gurdwara Bangla Sahib exhibits the paintings that depicts historical events related with the Sikh history. Also, don’t forget to tour its Khalsa Girl’s School and operational basement hospital.
