If you are travelling towards Hauz Khas and searching place where you can sit and spend some time with food stuff while having a drink as well, you can easily find out a lot of similar restaurants in Delhi. But shocking news that many restaurants in Hauz Khas village were found serving liquor in a prohibited area around schools and ancient monuments. Social activist Pankaj Sharma and advocate Anuja Kapur had filed a petition against it. The petition says that some of the restaurants share a common wall with ancient monuments and schools. When the court asked the petitioners to file an inspection report they replied back to the court that According to the government restaurants serving liquor should be at a distance of 100 meters from the premises of schools and the monuments in Delhi. But, there is not even distance of 1 meter due to the common wall.
The court sent a notice to the authorities, including the Delhi Jal Board and South Delhi Municipal Corporation as they did not reply to the petition. On this the authorities said that they were waiting to receive a copy of the petition and sought time period of two weeks.
The bench replied and said “you got the copy of the order of this court, so that is enough”.
