Delhi’s one of the famous in sight is Jhandewalan mandir which is located on the Jhandewalan Road which comes in the way to Karol Bagh, Delhi, India. Due to its religious and historical importance, the government has included it as the famous sights of Delhi. This ancient Hindu temple is dedicated to Maa Aadi Shakti which is the avatar of goddess Maa Durga.
The goddess Maa Durga represents the Supreme power that preserves morality order in the creation. She wears red, holds multiple weapons and rides a tiger as her vehicle. All this symbolize the unlimited and tremendous power she holds. She uses these powers to protect virtue and destroy evil.
The name of this temple was given by the emperor Shah Jahan during the time of his reign due to the prayer flags or ‘jhandas’ being offered. The Jhandewalan Temple is in the heart of Delhi.
The temple is divided in two levels. The upper level of the Delhi’s Jhandewalan Temple has the idols of Maa Saraswati and Kali along with the idol of Maa Jhandewali. The same floor has the idols of other Gods as well. In the adjoining area at the lower level itself, there is also a mesmerizing shiv mandir alongside for performing Shiv puja. Religious mantras are echoed day and night in the temple, so that the devotees are blessed with good health, happiness and peace.

- On general days: 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM, 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- On Navratri days: 4:00 AM – 12:00 AM [closed for cleaning 6.15 PM – 7.00 PM]
- Aarti Timing in Navratri: 4:00 AM, 7:00 PM
Irrespective of the caste and status, many devotees visit this place. The time when this temple is most crowded is during the days of Navratra because it is one of the most famous religious sites for Hindus.
