People from every state come to take admissions in the University of Delhi. But the question which strikes their mind at first is where to stay? Though there are many hotels in Delhi, but one can stay in hotel for limited days as it can be expensive. Therefore, you have to look up for a better option which suits your pocket as well. After admission in DU, if you are searching for a shelter, then you should be aware of the fact that your seniors are ready to help you. Some of the campus colleges facilitate hostels in Delhi University. There are around 150 seats in the hostels of best colleges in Delhi, which are usually occupied by students who get admissions either in the first or second cutoff. The remaining students only have the option of PG and taking rooms on rent.
To help the troubled freshers in this situation some senior students from Ramjas College of DU have created a volunteer group called “NEED-A-PG”. Members of this group told the Pipl Delhi team that there are PG providers in the North Campus who themselves have opened PG in the rented buildings. They also have to pay rent to their landlords which they recover by adding it to the rent which they get from the students.
They added that some brokers along with the owners of the building used to cheat the students. That’s why they have created a volunteer group named “Need-a-PG” to protect the students from such brokers. Group Leader Rohan said that “I want to save my younger siblings from having problems in getting the right room or PG in their academic session.” He also said that there are some passed-out students of DU too in this volunteer group.
Where are these PGs in the campus???
Most of PGs in North Campus exist in Kamla Nagar and Vijay Nagar. None of the students get bored or face any fooding problem as there are many restaurants in Delhi on the University’s North Campus. Need-A-PG Group said that there are sharing options available for students in PG which are sold according to the requirements of students depending upon their budget. These PGs are quite safe for girls as well. Especially girls’ security is given more attention.
Rohan Deswal said that “any PG or room is good only when there is a good quality of food available.” There are also some PGs, which decide their menu according to the choice of students.
