A man died, whereas one more was found injured on Sunday night after being crushed by a truck while trying to change a tire on Ring Road near Adarsh Nagar in north-west Delhi.
- The men were identified as Rahul (22), Akshay (23) and Ranjan (20) who were returning from a programme they had organized in Rohini late on Sunday to change the tire of Rahul’s i-10. Rahul was changing the tire of the car with Akshay’s help. Whereas, Ranjan stood some distance away to divert traffic. Ranjan informed the police control room, who is a student and the son of a Delhi Police officer.
- Ranjan in his interview said, “a speeding truck rammed into the i10 and crushed Rahul, who was changing the tire in the middle of the road before dragging Akshay for a few metres.”
The truck driver fled from the scene, leaving the two men bleeding on the road. Both were taken to the hospital, where Rahul was pronounced dead.
As per the theory of Police officers, the car did not have its lights on when its tire was being changed, the truck driver did not notice the men. By the time the driver saw them, it was too late to bring the vehicle to stop.
