On Thursday East Delhi Municipal Council demanded for council fund and stepped out on the road and marched to the Delhi Secretariat. The march was led by Mayor Neema Bhagat of East Delhi.Looking at East MCD’s Gardner’s condition, the corporation has been demanding outstanding funds from the Delhi Government for many years. The march was called as “Run for Fund”. According to the recommendation of the Fourth Finance Commission, the march was started from the Madhuvan Chowk in East Delhi and Delhi Secretariat. They protested because of not being given funds to the corporation.
Every BJP’s councilors participated in the Run for Fund march. The cleanliness workers also attended the March. The cleaning workers had recently ended their strike. According to the Mayor’s statement, the East MCD was promised to get a fund of about 9,278 crores according to the recommendations of the fourth finance commission.But the Delhi government has stopped the funding because of some political reasons. That’s why; the financial condition of the East MCD is constantly getting worse day by day.As per the Mayor’s statement, the corporation is not able to pay the salaries at the right time and also, the pensioners are not getting their pension. Even the contractors have not been paid for their work from a very long span of time.Mayor Neema Bhagat had gone to meet Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with the people who had participated in the march, but they were unable to meet the. According to Mayor Nima Bhagat, Arvind Kejriwal was not in his office.
