Raid, the movie is all about an honest income-tax official conducting a carefully planned raid on one of the most powerful man (Saurabh Shukla) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgn) has played the role of this officer who is crusading against the system in many files. His frequent job transfers show his that political interference always seeped in, as he was one of the most principled officers in the department. He has a wife named Malini (Ileana D’Cruz), who have no place in the plot. Perhaps the director has a belief that the wives of honest government officials need to be equally brave. As the interval sets in, the luck begins to help the raiding team who were just ripping up mattresses and upturning idols before.
Of course, Ajay Devgn’s dead-eyed performance do registers, but the movie’s best character is its villain, Saurabh Shukla’s who has lost control over his brood. He is the kind of man who takes prides in his political power and has enough confidence to mock the hero before the raid begins. The movie is clear on the terms of rights and wrongs. There are songs, there are twists, abundance of thrills and even an action sequence.
In the end, my review for this movie is that the director Raj Kumar Gupta has tried by making the film entertaining and impressive. Raid is crisp and tight movie! but it may leave you rolling your eyes during some moments and is a kind of film that caters to public sentiment against corruption.
“Raid is expected to open to a collection of Rs 8-8.5 crore today. But, the box-office success of this movie largely depends on its promotion in the next few days to come.”
