On November 4, an incident of a robbery was reported in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh, where a man working in a jeweller’s workshop allegedly stole precious and expensive ornaments which worth over Rs.1 crore after serving liquor and sweets laced with sedatives to his co-workers. Police came to know that one of the workers fed liquor and sweets laced with sedatives to his co-workers saying that it was his child’s birthday.
In a very short span of time, all the workers lost their consciousness and the accused fled with ornaments including gold and diamond jewellery, the police said. This incident occurred, when the jeweller, Kaushik Goswami, who is the owner of the shop, had gone home. He came to know about it the next day.
When Kaushik Goswami arrived for the workshop, he found that all the workers were unconscious and he quickly informed the police. All the workers have been admitted to a hospital and one of them was found to be missing, the police said. During interrogation, police came to know that the missing worker had stolen the valuable items. According to the police records last month also valuables items worth over Rs.14 crore were stolen from the workshops of two jewellers in the same area.
