NEW DELHI: There exist an enormous number of events in Delhi out of which some are protests which are held at Jantar Mantar so often and sometimes on a regular basis. Recently, the National Green Tribunal has ordered the Delhi Government to immediately stop the protests which are going on at Jantar Mantar as it exhibits noise pollution.Jantar Mantar is one of the monuments in Delhi. Due to noise pollution which is caused by people who protest there, the government offices and official places are also having disturbances.
The chairperson Justice R S Rathore said the Delhi Government and NDMC to remove loudspeakers and sound systems from the site of action. In addition, NGT also suggested the Delhi Government and NDMC to shift the protestors to Ramleela Ground along with the portable systems they are using to gather people.The petition filed by Varun Seth says that people from unauthorized organizations and institutions displays the protests in public places which immensely cause noise pollution.
The matter has been discussed in the courts earlier as well but, no action has been taken yet. NGT told the AAP government to set Ramleela Ground for this purpose instead of Jantar Mantar. Jantar Mantar is often used by official rallies and political gatherings.
NGT asked the Delhi government, “Have you ever visited Jantar Mantar?” “Have you ever noticed the condition of the local people?” Why don’t you do something when you have the power?
