NEW DELHI: On Wednesday Rajat Sharma, a well-known journalist put his foot forward for the post of Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) President. As per sources, the elections for the same will be held on June 30.
Sharma is a chairman and chief editor of a renowned Hindi news channel “India TV” and, is a Padma Bhushan awardee. His team includes Rakesh Bansal who is said to be fighting for the post of vice president, Om Prakash Sharma and Vinod Tihara (secretary). Sharma clique has given a statement that states that the list of rest of the panel members will be released soon.
Many people have backed Sharma’s candidature and the names include Sneh Bansal, who is a former DDCA President, Narinder Batra, president of Treasurer and International Hockey Federation (FIH) and many others.
Administrator Justice Vikramajit Sen declared the dates for the DDCA elections, yesterday, he also issued that the election procedure will take place without the proxy system.
Reason being that the proxy system of voting is considered as the bone of contention for corruption in DDCA and now it has been shunned away as Justice Sen released an 11-point model of code of conduct for the election of members of the executive committee.
