Commercial markets of Delhi including Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, and Lajpat Nagar will remain closed for the third time in the past three months, on March 28. The traders are holding a mega rally to demand protection from the sealing drive.
- The rally is to be held at the Ramlila ground where more than 7 lakh entrepreneurs and over 3000 commercial markets will remain closed. Both wholesale and retail markets will observe trade bandh. The traders are organizing the rally with a demand that the government must immediately bring a bill in Parliament to stop sealing.
- The intensified reason for trader’s agitation is that they are not given an opportunity to present their side of cases. The government is intensifying the sealing process in the city without even realizing the ground realities of sealing operations.
Due to non-availability of police force, the drive has lost steam in the last few weeks. But the sealing is being continued in the city by shutting down properties for the misuse of stilt parking space. The civic bodies are now looking violations of stilt parking that are made in the residential area.
Transport companies and the logistics sector are also kept shut for the day. As, they came forward to extend their support.
