With the rise in the percentage of crimes in the schools of Delhi, the Delhi Government has decided to form a “School Safety Committee” and also published a 117- point “Check list for school safety” which will include the entry and exit of every single visitor in the school and toilets.
Keeping the safety measures in the mind, Delhi Government has decided that every school will be secured with the fencing over the boundaries of the school and to set up CCTV surveillance in every single place.
Every school has to create its “School Safety Committee” within 15 days of issuing the circular.
It is decided that “Monthly Safety Walk” will be generated on a particular fixed date every month in order to ensure the safety.
Delhi government has highlighted some basic points in the safety checklist that all staff entering the school should have their ID Cards, staff identification will be checked at the entrance of the school on a daily basis, and that firewall, and filtering and monitoring mechanisms must be installed in all computers in the school premises.
For the purpose of cleaning or maintenance of the toilets women staff will be deployed. Toilet visits are allowed only in groups of 2 for the students of Classes 3 to 5.
Every school must have CCTV surveillance in every empty room and in abandoned areas of the school including the terraces. All these empty rooms and terrace should be locked properly and all locked rooms will be checked within every 15 days.
