Sholay was a 1975 Indian Hindi action-adventure film, which was directed by Ramesh Sippy. This film was produced by his father G. P. Sippy and was written by Salim-Javed. The film depicts the life of two criminals, Veeru and Jai (played by Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan), who were hired by a retired police officer (Sanjeev Kumar) to capture the ruthless dacoit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan). Sholay is still considered to be a classic and one of the best Indian films in the Bollywood. This film was ranked first in the British Film Institute’s 2002 poll of “Top 10 Indian Films” of all time. It is true that movies do inspire its viewer, but you will be shocked to know that two persons got so much inspired by this movie that they become a robber in their actual life.
Jamshed Alam, 18, who lives in Sangam Vihar, and Irshad, 21, a resident of Shiv Park, they both have been recognized as the partners in crime, who were trying to walk on the footsteps of Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.
During the investigation, police came to know that both the accused are very close friends and were inspired by the Bollywood movie ‘Sholay’ and was famous as ‘Jai’ and ‘Veeru’ in their locality”.
Both of them confessed for committing several vehicle thefts in Delhi and the National Capital Region, the police said. They both used to drive an auto rickshaw on rent to earn a livelihood. They decided to make quick money and an idea of stealing auto rickshaws got sparked in their mind, so they started stealing auto rickshaws from Gurugram or Faridabad.
They had stolen total 13 stolen auto rickshaws and a Scooty thereby solving six cases of motor vehicle theft. According to the sources of police, they came to know that on October 29, the accused are coming to a specific location and they laid a trap and arrested the duo on the spot.
