Out of work pressure, MBBS student committed suicide.

Once again the peer pressure took the life of an innocent boy who was a MBBS student studying in the first year. Victim Siddharth Shankar Mahapatra (26) was a trainee anesthetist at RML Hospital. He used to live in a rented house with his two roommates. Out of which one went to meet his parents on the same night when Siddharth committed suicide while the other was on a night duty in the hospital.

Siddharth left a suicide note and mentioned why he decided to end his life at the beginning of his career. The letter addressed that he was going through depression caused by work pressure and he started feeling like a prisoner. Siddharth was a resident of Odisha who was found hanging from the ceiling fan using trousers.

The next morning police was informed at 8:38 am by one of the roommates of Siddharth. Police immediately rushed at the spot of death. An officer said that we called the crime team and shifted the body to RML hospital for post-mortem. Prior inquiry clarified that he had first injected a medicine and then hanged himself. A judicial inquiry under 174 CrPC has been filed. Hospital authorities informed that the victim Siddharth had recently attended a protocol on thesis presentation and he was preparing for it.
